Published on November 3rd, 2010 2:54 am ESTJeff Forrest has just won the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals after dispatching of Dave Inselberg in second place. For his victory, Forrest will take home $548,752, a WPT bracelet and a Foxwoods trophy.
The final hand of the tournament occurred on Hand #203 of the final table. At the time, Forrest was enjoying a 4.7 million to 2.6 million chip lead over Dave Inselberg.
Inselberg called a pre-flop raise from Forrest, and the flop came 9d-8s-5c. Inselberg checked, Forrest bet, Inselberg "snap-check-raised", Forrest shoved and Inselberg called. The two players turned over:
Inselberg - 9h-6s
Forrest - Qd-Qh
Inselberg had a pair of Nines with a gutshot straight draw, while Forrest had a pair of Queens for an overpair.
The turn brought the Qs, giving Forrest a set of Queens. Inselberg lost a number of his outs and would now need a 7 to stay alive in the tournament.
The river brought the Ac, eliminating Inselberg in second place for $325,608.
Here is how the final table finished out:
Jeff Forrest, $548,752
Dave Inselberg, $325,608
Thomas Marchese, $211,759
Nikolai Yakovenko, $170,773
Kevin Stammen, $128,650
Mohsin Charania, $104,741

A number of notable names, including Thomas Marchese, Sorel Mizzi, Jason Mercier and Hoyt Corkins, went deep in this event. In the end, though, it was the inexperienced Jeff Forrest that ended up taking down the event for the largest score of his career.
