Jason Mercier Takes Down WCOOP #42 for $435,862
Published on September 21st, 2010 6:33 am ESTTeam Pokerstars Pro Jason Mercier outlasted 3,121 other players to take down WCOOP #42 ($1,050 NLHE) earlier tonight. For his victory, Mercier ended up receiving approximately $436k (after a three-way deal was made between "osten" and "loooser17") and the WCOOP bracelet.
The final table of Event #42 featured a number of well-known names including Chad Brown and Dani "Ansky" Stern. Brown and Stern were the first two players to bow out of the final table, which helped clear the way for Mercier to take down the event.
Mercier had to deal with a short stack for a large part of the final table, which made his victory all the more impressive. He was down to just 10 BBs at one point but managed to hang on and eventually grind out the victory.
As mentioned, a deal was agreed to when the tournament was three-handed. Here is how the final table payouts ended up looking:
1. "JasonMercier", $435,862
2. "osten", $317,345
3. "loooser17", $367,501
4. "DHUSTLER15", $179,515
5. "APerfectGent", $135,807
6. "TeamWispy", $104,587
7. "bastet2004", $73,367
8. "supernova9", $42,209
9. "ChadBrownPro", $26,537
