John Monnette Wins WCOOP Bracelet To Go Along With His Two SCOOP Bracelets

What makes this victory noteworthy is that Monnette also managed to take down a SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) event in both 2009 and 2010 as well. "jmonnett" took the $3k Stud event in 2009 for $56,610 and the $1k 2-7 Triple Draw event in 2010 for $36,400. "jmonnett" has put himself into some pretty exclusive company by capturing both a SCOOP and a WCOOP bracelet (in fact, he may be the only person to have done so but I'm too tired to look this up tonight).

Monnette is probably best known for his second place finish in the $2,500 2-7 Lowball event at the 2009 World Series of Poker. This tournament was eventually won by Phil Ivey, who was able to claim his sixth World Series of Poker bracelet (he has since won two more).
During the event, Monnette didn't exactly endear himself to the other players at the table, complaining both about the dealers and some of his fellow players. There was also an incident at the 2007 World Series of Poker when Monnette was penalized and forced to sit out 27 hands after ripping up a card.
Monnette may not be the most popular player around, but there is no denying his success in WCOOP and SCOOP events.
