Brian Townsend Leaves Cardrunners, Will No Longer Be A Full Tilt Poker "Red Pro"

A little over one month after Cole South announced that he was leaving Cardrunners.com, Brian Townsend has also decided to depart as well.

In a June 2nd, 2010 blog post titled "Cardrunners", Townsend revealed that "as of June 1st I will no longer be a lead instructors at Cardrunners."

In addition, Townsend also revealed that he will no longer be a Full Tilt Poker "red pro", and will go back to playing under his "sbrugby" alias.

Townsend stated that being involved in Cardrunners is "much more time consuming than I would have imagined", and that "I have started to realize that it is time for me to move on and devote my time to playing poker."

On April 28th, Cole South announced that he was leaving Cardrunners for basically the same reason - to focus on playing poker (and, in South's case, to also finish his degree).

Full Tilt Poker wasted no time in pulling Townsend's profile off of their site.

Brian Townsend's time as a "red pro" on Full Tilt Poker included a couple of suspensions of his "red pro" status.

In the summer of 2008, Townsend revealed that he had been playing under "2nd aliases" on both Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars (he was playing as "Stellarnebula" on FTP in addition to his "Brian Townsend" account). Townsend had his "red pro" status suspended for six months as a result of this violation.

Late in 2009, Brian Townsend had his "red pro" status suspended for a SECOND time (this time for a month) after it was revealed that he had purchased 30k hands of games that involved "Isildur1". Townsend was in violation of the Full Tilt Poker rule that states - "Full Tilt Poker defines an unfair advantage as a user accessing or compiling information on other players beyond that which the user has personally observed through his or her own game play."

I don't think that Full Tilt is losing too much sleep over Brian Townsend no longer being a "red pro".

Is this the last of the "big name" defections from Cardrunners, or are more coming?
