2010 Pokerstars SCOOP Details Should be Released Soon
Published on February 3rd, 2010 7:25 am ESTPokerstars should be releasing the schedule for the 2010 SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) soon, most likely within the next week or so.
Many people have been wondering when Pokerstars would release the schedule, considering that the 2009 SCOOP started on April 2nd, 2009.
The finalized 2009 SCOOP schedule wasn't released until mid-February of last year, so the site is not "late" in releasing details for their 2010 event.
According to Pokerstars, the final schedule for the 2010 series is being finalized and debated, and details should be released shortly.
Here is what we have heard so far:
-the series will start later this year, likely running from May 3-16 (the 2009 SCOOP ran from April 2nd to April 12th)
-the series will feature the same three-tiered format as last year (Low, Medium and High buy-ins for each event)
-the 2010 SCOOP should feature some new events, considering the fact that it is expected run for 14 days (compared to 11 days last year)
-SCOOP satellites should begin by mid March
I wish I had more information, but Pokerstars should be releasing more details over the coming days.
The 2009 SCOOP had a total of $30 million in guaranteed prize money. Given the rate of growth for Pokerstars over the past year, the possibility of more events and the fact that the 2009 series had a total prize pool of nearly $40 million dollars, I would think that there might be $40 million in guaranteed prize money this year.
The potential early May start date for the 2010 SCOOP would mean that the series wouldn't conflict with either the EPT San Remo or EPT Monte Carlo events.
We'll have more details when they are released..
