Todd Witteles, who goes by the online alias "Dan Druff", has captured the 2005 World Series of Poker player of the year award, as given out by Cardplayer.com.
Witteles captured the title by winning a bracelet in the $3000 Limit Hold'em event and coming in 3rd in the $1500 Limit Hold'em event that took place early in the tournament.
Due to the size of the World Series of Poker main event field, it probably would have made more sense to award the title to Joseph Hachem, but Witteles is also a good choice. Witteles had a very solid World Series of Poker; considering the fact that these were his first two major tournaments, it makes it all the more impressive.
We will surely be hearing more of "Dan Druff" in the future.
