Gus Hansen Up Over $2.5 Million Dollars in 2009
Published on January 25th, 2009 9:31 am ESTGus Hansen seems to have replaced Guy Laliberte as the new "easy mark" in the high-stakes cash games on Full Tilt Poker.
The only problem - Gus has started 2009 on an unbelievable rush, posting a profit of $2.63 million dollars on Full Tilt Poker in just 24 days (over a total of 27,294 tracked hands).
This hot streak has come at the expense of a number of players, namely Tom "durrrr" Dwan. Dwan has dropped over $2.8 million dollars to start the year, and a great deal of this has been lost to Hansen.
Hansen has been the subject of some gentle ribbing from his high-stakes competitors as of late.
Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond said recently that Hansen was a "good player" playing in a game of "world class players", and was likely the reason that the $500/$1000 games were running as of late.
Tom Dwan practically begged Hansen to sit down and play at the Million Dollar cash game at the Aussie Millions today. Hansen refused, saying that he had been drinking - Dwan offered to drink heavily in order to "catch up", but only if Hansen sat at the table.
So far this year, Hansen is getting the last laugh. Now let's see if the notoriously high-variance Hansen can keep it up.
