Patrik Antonius Wins a Million Plus From Tom Dwan

Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius staged the first high-profile cash game battle of the year on Full Tilt Poker on Tuesday. When the smoke had cleared, Patrik Antonius was able to claim victory for the day.

The two waged their battle on some of the $500/$1000 Mix tables (Pot Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha) on Full Tilt.

There were a number of big pots that were played between the two, with Patrik Antonius taking down the three biggest (562k, 508k and 498k). According to HighstakesDB.com, Patrik Antonius managed to take down a $1 million dollar profit on the day and secure his first big win of the year.

These two are slated to square off sometime in 2009 in the "durrrr" challenge, though Tuesday's results were not part of the contest.

Here is a recap of the three biggest hands that were played between the two on Tuesday:

1. $562k Pot for Antonius (Hold'em). "durrrr" is in the SB, Gus Hansen is in the BB, and Patrik Antonius is on the button.

Antonius raises to $3,500 pre-flop. "durrrr" re-raises to $11,500 in the SB, Hansen folds, and Antonius calls.

The flop comes Q-5-K with two clubs. "durrrr" bets $17,200, and Antonius calls.

The turn is the 6 of spades. "durrrr" checks, Antonius bets $39,000, "durrrr" re-raises to $156,500, and Antonius calls.

The river is the five of hearts. "durrrr" pushes, and Antonius makes the call.

Patrik Antonius turns up K-7 of hearts, while "durrrr" shows the 8-9 of clubs. Antonius is shipped the $562k pot.

2. $508k Pot for Antonius (Omaha). "durrrr" and Antonius are heads-up. Antonius is in the SB, and "durrrr" is in the BB.

Antonius raises to $3,000 pre-flop, "durrrr" re-raises to $9,000 and Antonius calls.

The flop comes J-K-3 with two clubs. "durrrr" bets $13,200 and Antonius calls.

The turn is the four of diamonds. "durrrr" checks, Antonius bets $44,400, "durrrr" re-raises to $177,600, Antonius pushes and "durrrr" makes the call.

"durrrr" shows 7-3-5-4 with two diamonds for a flush draw, two pair and a gutshot straight draw.

Antonius shows Q-3-K-4 for a better two pair and a better flush draw.

The river is the harmless 2 of clubs, and Antonius takes down the $508k pot.

3. $498k Pot for Antonius (Hold'em). Antonius is in the SB, Gus Hansen is in the BB and "durrrr" is on the button.

"durrrr" raises to $3,000 from the button, Antonius raises to $10,000 from the SB, Hansen folds and "durrrr" calls.

The flop comes Q-4-6 with two spades. Antonius bets $16,000 and "durrrr" calls.

The turn is the Jack of hearts. Antonius leads out with a $42,000 bet, "durrrr" raises to $179,000 and Antonius re-raises all-in. "durrrr" makes the call.

"durrrr" shows the A-Q of diamonds for top pair, top kicker, while Antonius shows pocket Aces for the overpair.

The river is the five of spades, and Antonius is shipped the $498k pot.

I would expect to see some more epic battles between these two over the next couple of days. 2009 is going to be a great year to be a high-stakes railbird on Full Tilt Poker.
