Dwan Hammers the Competition
Published on December 5th, 2008 10:28 pm ESTJust a day after complaining about his recent losses, Tom "durrrr" Dwan battered his competition on multiple $500/$1000 No Limit Hold'em tables and took down a near million-dollar profit.
The appearance of "elmariachimacho" on Full Tilt Poker last night meant that the $500/$1000 tables would be quite active. "elmariachimacho", rumored to be Guy Laliberte, is down almost $3 million dollars on the year over just 15,467 hands. That works out to a loss of $194 for every hand that "elmariachimacho" has played on Full Tilt so far this year. If we include other accounts that are rumored to belong to Laliberte ("lady marmelade", "patatino", etc), the losses become even more mind-boggling. It's not hard to see why the tables always fill up when an account rumored to belong to Laliberte sits.
Anyways, the games were particularly good last night. A number of well-known names were sitting at 2 $500/$1000 No Limit Hold'em tables, including "durrrr", Gus Hansen, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, "elmariachimacho", Hac "trex313" Dang and others.
The big winner on the night would end up being Tom "durrrr" Dwan. When he left the tables, he had a combined stack of well over $1 million dollars. I'm not sure how he fared at Pot Limit Omaha, but he certainly dominated the NLHE games last night. "durrrr" significantly added to his $3 million dollar profit on Full Tilt Poker so far this year.
There were two particularly big pots for "durrrr" on Thursday evening / Friday morning - here they are:
1. "durrrr" vs "OMGClayAiken". This was a $563k pot, and the biggest of the night.
"OMGClayAiken" is in the SB, "elmariachimacho" is in the BB. "OMGClayAiken" has a stack of $281k, "durrrr" has about $408k.
"durrrr", as usual, is raising many hands. He raises pre-flop to $3,000. "OMGClayAiken" re-raises from the SB to $12,200. "durrrr" puts in another raise, this time to $34,900. "OMGClayAiken" sticks in yet another raise, this time to $87,600. "durrrr" makes it $140,300, and "OMGClayAiken" calls. There is now $280k in the pot, and "OMGClayAiken" has about $140k left in his stack.
The flop comes 7-2-7. "durrrr" leads out with a small bet, "OMGClayAiken" pushes and "durrrr" snap-calls.
"durrrr" shows pocket Aces, while "OMGClayAiken" shows pocket Queens.
The turn is the Nine of hearts and the river is the Ten of hearts, and "durrrr" takes down the $563k pot.
2. "durrrr" vs "trex313". "OMGClayAiken" is in the SB, "pr1nnyraid" is in the BB. "durrrr" has a stack of about $581k at this point, "trex13" has about $440k.
"durrrr" raises from early position to $3,000, "trex313" re-raises from the button to $10,500, "durrrr" calls. Everyone else folds.
The flop comes J-5-9 rainbow. "durrrr" leads out with a bet of $16,700. "trex313" calls.
The turn is the Ace of clubs, putting two clubs out on the board. "durrrr" leads out again for $43,600. "trex313" again calls.
The river is the Four of clubs. "durrrr" leads out with a bet of $118,700, and after some deliberation, "trex313" calls.
"durrrr" shows the 5-K of clubs for a rivered nut flush, and "trex313" mucks. "durrrr" takes down the $380k pot and leaves the table shortly after that.
All in all, a great night of action on Full Tilt. Tonight looks to be more of the same, as two $500/$1000 NLHE tables are already full and "elmariachimacho" is sitting at both.
