pokerstars - world series of online poker - wcoop - logo"ShoesRDurrty" didn't win the WCOOP Main Event on Monday afternoon. However, he was able to lay claim to the most unbelievable story, as he turned a freeroll entry into an 800k cash in the event.

"ShoesRDurrty" is Matt Swoboda, a 19 year old university student who attends the University of Virginia. Three months ago, Matt was playing $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em cash games. Fast forward a few months, and Matt is taking down nearly a million dollars in the WCOOP main event.

The winner of the event was Carter "ckingusc" King, who ended up taking down a healthy $1.26 million dollars for his first place finish. "liberace" finished in second place, but still ended up taking home the most money ($1.375 million dollars) after a five-handed chop. "AJKHoosier1" finished in third place, "Markush13" finished in fourth, and "ShoesRDurrty" finished in fifth. "ShoesRDurrty" received $801,153 after the chop.

The "ShoesRDurrty" story began in August. He was awarded an entry to a WCOOP Main Event freeroll tournament when he took advantage of a July reload bonus. The top five finishers in the freeroll would receive a seat to the WCOOP Main Event, and "ShoesRDurrty" ended up with one of those seats.

After taking down the seat, he decided that he was going to unregister for the Main Event and play in some of the smaller WCOOP events. He tried to unregister and was unable to do so.

Fast forward to September 22nd. "ShoesRDurrty" had worked his way through over 2000 players, and was now agreeing to a chop that would see him receive just over $800k.

Not only that, but September 22nd (the second day of the main event) was also Matt's birthday.

Matt says that he is going to buy a car and put the rest of the money into a retirement fund.

Congratulations to everyone who made the final table of the epic main event.
