asia pacific poker tour - appt - logoThis particular poker tournament is very important for a number of reasons. First off, it's the first poker tournament to ever take place on Chinese soil, which is a potentially MASSIVE untapped market for online poker. Second, these events will be shown all over Asia and the world, as the events are being taped and produced by the same company that handles the World Series of Poker broadcasts. Third, this is Asia's largest poker tournament ever. If Asia catches the online poker bug, this would obviously be a major boon to online poker in general, and I can definitely understand why such a push is being made into this market.

352 players entered this tournament, and first prize will be $222,640. According to Pokerstars over half of the players at this event qualified online. Pokerstars had a number of their sponsored players in this event, including Joe Hachem and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.

The notable names at the final table, which will start at 2pm Local Time, include Liz Lieu, "ElkY" and Joe Hachem. Dinh Le is the chipleader heading into the final table with a stack of just over 650,000 chips, and Simon Randall is the short-stack with 125,000 in chips. Liz Lieu has about 400k in chips, "ElkY" has approximately 460k, and Joe Hachem has just over 300,000.
