Daniel Negreanu's 2024 Off To Great Start With Tournament Victory
Published on January 6th, 2024 3:11 pm ESTDaniel Negreanu has always posted his year-end results via his web site, Twitter or Youtube.
This year, Negreanu revealed that 2023 was his worst year ever, as he managed to lose $2,228,174.
This figure managed to top 2016, in which Negreanu lost $1,246,693 over just 49 events.
-
Negreanu reflected on his 2023 results and promised to make some changes, including choosing not to rebuy in events when he wasn't feeling it.
Negreanu, always the optimist, had to be happy with how his 2024 has started out, as he managed to take down a tournament in the first few days of the year.
"Kid Poker" took down the PokerGO Tour "PGT Last Chance #1" event for $218,400, outlasting an incredibly tough final table that included the likes of Justin Bonomo, Isaac Haxton and David Peters.
Sure, Negreanu got lucky in some spots - including in the final hand of the tournament, when he spiked a Queen on the river to give himself Broadway against his opponents trip Jacks - though he also played incredibly well at the final table.
-
With his cash, Daniel Negreanu now has $51,851,399 in total lifetime tournament cashes, putting him at 6th on the all-time money list.
-
It will be interesting to see if Negreanu can continue his momentum after posting his "worst year ever".
This is the nature of the beast in the high-variance world of high-stakes tournament poker - one off year and you can post millions of dollars in losses.
Can Negreanu continue his rebound?
