Players To Square Off at Lodge Poker Club in Texas
Published on May 4th, 2022 2:06 pm ESTThe poker world has been inundated with scandals as of late.
Accusations of ghosting.
Angling controversies.
The list goes on and on. It hasn't been a good last month for the game of poker.
The poker world needs a good, old-fashioned high stakes heads-up match to take people's minds off of all of the controversy.
-
On May 28th, Doug Polk and Daniel "Jungleman" Cates will be clashing in a live, heads-up poker match at the Lodge Poker Club in Texas.
Polk, who is part owner of the Lodge Poker Club, often makes appearances.
This will be his highest profile appearance at the club, as he and Cates are set to battle in a $200/$400 No Limit Hold'em poker match with initial buy-ins of $50,000 each.
The two have some history online, with Polk alleging that Cates "hit and run" during an online cash game in the past, though they seem relatively friendly with each other.
-
Both Polk and Cates have been involved in some of the biggest heads-up matches in the history of poker.
Polk and Daniel Negreanu played a long online heads-up match last year, with Polk eventually pulling away and winning.
Daniel Cates, on the other hand, was involved in the "durrrr Challenge" way back in the day, and Cates is apparently still waiting on Tom Dwan to finish up the Challenge, or at least make good and buy out of the rest of the Challenge.

Here are Polk and Cates talking about the match - more details will be coming at a later date:
