The PoY - Player of the Year race is very much on in 2019.Shaun Deeb is closing in on Robert Campbell at the top of the 2019 World Series of Poker Player of the Year leaderboard, while the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Dan Zack and Phillip Hui all look to make big moves in order to catch up.

In any other year, Shaun Deeb and Daniel Negreanu possibly would have skipped making the trip to the Czech Republic to play in the World Series of Poker Europe.

Their competitive juices, however, wouldn't allow them to skip the event, as the two adversaries desperately want to add another WSOP POY title to their resumes. Deeb and Negreanu have a healthy hatred for each other, and both men certainly want to win in order to hold it over the other.

Robert Campbell, Shaun Deeb and Daniel Negreanu all have a single cash in this year's WSOPE so far, and they all came in the same event. Deeb finished the highest of the three, so he was able to gain a bit of ground on Campbell while putting Negreanu further in the rear-view mirror.

Both Deeb and Negreanu are still alive in the €25,500 Short Deck High Roller NLHE event, which is near its Day 1 conclusion. There are currently 33 players left in the event - Deeb currently has a top 10 stack, while Negreanu is somewhere in the middle of the field. There are plenty of points on the line in this event.

There are 15 bracelet events at this year's WSOPE, which means that there is plenty of time left for Campbell, Deeb or Negreanu to make a big move.

There are four events left in the schedule with buy-ins of over €10,000, not including the events that are currently being played. These include the main event, the €25,500 Platinum High Roller, the €25,500 Mixed Games Championship and the €100,000 Diamond High Roller.

You can be sure that Deeb and Negreanu will both be playing in all four of these events.

The WSOP POY race certainly adds another element of drama to the World Series of Poker Europe.
