partypoker To Run Weekly partypoker MILLION For First Time Since 2006
Published on October 15th, 2019 5:18 pm ESTIn 2006, the United States government singlehandedly marked the end of the "poker boom" after passing UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006) into law.
Companies that had already taken their shares public at that point - including partypoker - were forced to pull out of the US market, which allowed Pokerstars to become the world's top online poker room. partypoker's numbers crashed as a result, thanks to a double whammy of the loss of their US customers and their remaining customers wanting to go where the action was - Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker.
As a result, partypoker canned their weekly million dollar guaranteed tournament.
13 years later, partypoker is making the decision to bring back their weekly $1 million guaranteed tournament.
The tournament will officially return on November 3rd and will feature a buy-in of $215.
There will be multiple Day 1 flights - Day 1A will take place on October 27th, Day 1B will take place on October 29th, Day 1C will take place on October 31st and Day 1D will take place on November 3rd. Finally, the Final Day will get underway on Sunday afternoon (November 3rd), and people can buy into that day directly as well, as late registration will remain open for a few hours.
Players can buy in for multiple days if they are eliminated, though the opening day flights will be in a freezeout format, so no same-day re-entries will be allowed.
The tournament is slated to conclude late on Sunday evening.
