Kaibuxxe, the young Pot Limit Omaha specialist from Austria who has been absolutely setting the poker tables on fire at Full Tilt Poker, is in the midst of a fairly large downswing.
This can't be too much of a surprise though after the run that he went on from the beginning of July up until just a couple of days ago. By all accounts, Kaibuxxe made just over $4 million dollars on Full Tilt Poker in just over a month and a half. Considering the competition that he faces on Full Tilt Poker, this is an amazing feat and is the result of a combination of skilled and aggressive play from Kaibuxxe, and running super hot.
Kaibuxxe's downswing started when he took Phil Ivey on in a much talked about heads-up PLO match on Full Tilt. Kaibuxxe had just finished destroying David Benyamine, and Phil Ivey decided to throw his hat into the ring. The play was extremely aggressive on both sides with some huge pots being played.
The two played two sessions, and Ivey ended up winning both. Ivey probably won about $500k from Kaibuxxe over the two sessions. This led Kaibuxxe to quit Ivey, saying that he probably wouldn't play Ivey heads-up for a while (a pretty smart move.)
Kaibuxxe has been known for blowing out his bankroll in the past when he takes a tumble. He seems to have his head right this time around though, as he is taking a short break from online poker. By all accounts, Kaibuxxe is still up over $3 million for the summer, so he shouldn't feel too bad about this downwards swing.
