Poker Drama Stars Jessica Chastain as Molly Bloom
Published on December 29th, 2017 7:41 am EST"Molly's Game", which is the story of Molly Bloom and the ultra high-stakes, underground poker games that she used to run, opened to strong reviews earlier this week.
Molly's Game, which stars Jessica Chastain as Molly Bloom, is Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut.
The movie chronicles the story of Bloom, who, while she was in her 20s, organized a high stakes poker game that included some of the biggest names in the entertainment, sports and business world. According to Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Dan Bilzerian were just some of the names who frequently played in these games.
The high net-worth individuals in these games meant that there were some massive pots - according to Bloom, one particularly wealthy player lost a total of $100 million over the course of one session, which he promptly paid the next day.

As of this moment, "Molly's Game" has a score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, with most reviewers finding the movie compelling and well-written.
The movie received a limited release over the Christmas holiday (this is done to ensure that the film will be eligible for next year's Academy Awards). From the December 25th-27th period, "Molly's Game" took in just over $2 million in box office receipts.

"Molly's Game" seems like it will be a strong addition to the poker movie universe, though it will likely fall far short of the iconic status that "Rounders" enjoys.
