EPT, LAPT, APPT Set For Return
Published on December 17th, 2017 7:52 pm ESTEarlier this week, Pokerstars made a couple of big announcements, including the upcoming launch of the "Pokerstars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship", as well as the return of the popular "European Poker Tour" brand.
Let's start with the "Pokerstars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship". This annual tournament will be taking place every year at the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). The first of these tournaments will be taking place at the 2019 PCA and will run from January 6-10, 2019.
The Pokerstars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship will have a $25,000 buy-in. Pokerstars has said that they will be giving away "more than 300" Platinum Passes in 2018, which will be worth an estimated $30,000. These platinum passes, which will be given away "on Pokerstars live tours around the world, and online in tournaments, cash games, promotions and via the Stars Rewards loyalty program", will include the $25,000 buy-in to the Pokerstars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship, as well as accommodation and travel costs.
In addition, Pokerstars has said that they will be adding $1 million extra to the prize pool that will be awarded to the eventual winner of the event. This means that the winner will take home the regular first place prize, as well as an additional $1 million on top of that.
This should make for an absolutely massive tournament, as there will be many amateur players participating via platinum passes, in addition to all of the professional players who will be taking advantage of the added value.

In addition to the big tournament announcement, Pokerstars also revealed that they would be "refocusing" their live tournament offerings.
This means that Pokerstars will be moving away from their "Pokerstars Championship" and "Pokerstars Festival" brands and bringing back popular series such as the European Poker Tour (as well as the Latin America Poker Tour and Asia Pacific Poker Tour).
The European Poker Tour is one of the most highly regarded poker tours in the world, and Pokerstars is making a good decision to bring this brand back into the fold.
