Published on May 20th, 2014 7:56 pm ESTAccording to Pokerstars.com (link below), the 2014 SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) was officially the richest-ever online poker tournament series of all time, trouncing the previous record by more than $6 million.
Pokerstars was guaranteeing a total prize pool of $40 million over the course of the 45 event, 135 tournament series. In the end, Pokerstars received a total of 567,701 entries (not including re-entries) over the course of the two week series, which ended up creating a total prize pool of $81,222,158.66.
As mentioned, the $81.2 million prize pool meant that SCOOP 2014 officially became the largest online poker tournament series of all time, surpassing the 2013 SCOOP by over $6 million. The 2013 SCOOP ended up generating a total of $75,585,305.05 in prizes over the course of the 132 tournament event.

The three main event tournaments (Low, Medium, High Buy-in) all saw strong turnouts, with the Low buy-in event receiving 21,545 entries, the Medium buy-in event receiving 4,047 entries and the High buy-in event receiving 657 entries.
