$260,000 Overlay in This Week's Sunday Warm-Up
Published on April 6th, 2014 10:07 pm ESTChristmas came early for the 1,204 players in this week's Sunday Warm-Up on Pokerstars, as "technical problems" resulted in a massive overlay of $260,000.
The "technical problems" meant that there was no late registration for the event (normally registration is available for up to 180 minutes after the event starts) which translated to a significantly smaller field than usual. 1,204 players ended up paying the $200+$15 buy-in for the event - $200 * 1,204 players = $240,800. The guaranteed prize pool for the event was $500,000, which meant that the overlay was just under $260,000.

Here is what Pokerstars had to say about the situation via their Twitter account:
"Due to technical problems, the Sunday Warm-Up had no Late Registration. As a result players who wished to late reg will not be able to play."
"There is a substantial overlay in the event for those playing. We apologize for the inconvenience for those who wanted to play but couldn't."

The winner of the Sunday Warm-up was "KeyserMM" from Germany, who outlasted "jpgossn" (Argentina) during heads-up play to take down the $85,000 first place prize.
