$50,000 Guaranteed Tournament Draws 179 Players
Published on December 2nd, 2013 9:29 pm ESTEarly last week, New Jersey officially began the "full launch" of legalized and regulated online gaming in their state.
There were a number of "major" tournaments on New Jersey online gaming sites this past weekend, but NJ.PartyPoker.com and BorgataPoker.com teamed up to host the largest - a $185+$15 No Limit Hold'em event with a $50,000 guarantee.
As expected, the PP/Borgata event ended up with a sizeable overlay. After all, online gaming just kicked off in the state, and many potential customers are having trouble getting on to the site due to geolocation issues. In addition, many customers who are able to sign up are having trouble getting money on to the New Jersey gaming sites due to uncooperative banks and credit card companies.

A total of 179 players ended up turning out for the first major Sunday tournament on PP/Borgata.
After a three-way deal, "Mikey Casino" ended up walking away with a first-place prize of $8,050. The second and third place finishers, "Ace83" and "Rock64", ended up walking away with $6,050.
The top 36 places in this event ended up paying out.

There were a couple of other major Sunday tournaments on the New Jersey online gaming sites this past weekend. A $25,000 Guarantee event ($200 + $15) on WSOP.com NJ ended up drawing a total of 118 players - "RiverRat" ended up taking down the event for $7,000, while "DrMtg" finished runner-up for a payout of $4,050.

As time goes on, the turnouts for these major Sunday tournaments should get bigger and bigger.
