Will Ma has taken down his first major live tournament, as he bested a very tough final table that included that likes of Ram Vaswani and Tony Lisandro to take down a first place prize of over 400,000 euros.
Will Ma bested Runar Runarsson in their heads-up matchup, with the decisive hand being Runar pushing all in on a flop of 5 Q 10 rainbow holding KQ, while Will Ma held the pocket Rockets, AA. After this hand, Ma never relinquished the lead.
The Grand Prix de Paris was formerly a World Poker Tour event until the French government decided that they would not be welcome to tape there because of the WPT's ties with online gambling (WPT has an online poker site.) Even though the WPT made a point of not allowing French customers to play on their site, this didn't deter France from barring the WPT. Perhaps with the change of power in France, the WPT will be back to tape this event next year?
All in all, it was a very successful event, with multiple big names making the final table. Congratulations to Will Ma.
