Dan Shak Beats Sam Trickett To Become Champion
Published on March 24th, 2013 3:02 pm ESTDan Shak outlasted Sam Trickett to take down the PartyPoker.com Premier League VI last evening. With his victory, Shak joins Scott Seiver, David Benyamine, JC Tran, Andy Black and Juha Helppi as winners of the event.
Dan Shak's victory wasn't an easy one, as he had to navigate through a final table that included the likes of Sam Trickett, Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Cates and Jonathan Duhamel. The heads-up battle between Shak and Trickett was a lengthy one - the decisive hand of heads-up play came when Shak overshoved on a board that read 2h-8h-As-10s-7h. Trickett, after a great deal of thought, decided to call holding two pair, but was dismayed when Shak turned over a flush. This left Trickett with just a tiny amount of chips in his stack, and he was eliminated in the next hand.
Here is how the final table payouts ended up:
1. Dan Shak, $450,000
2. Sam Trickett, $200,000
3. Antonio Esfandiari, $150,000
4. Jonathan Duhamel, $125,000
5. Daniel Cates, $100,000
6. Tobias Reinkemeier, $70,000
7. Jennifer Tilly, $60,000
8. Talal Shakerchi, $45,000
Each player received 10,000 chips for every point that they collected in the four qualifying heats that they participated in. Here is how the chips looked heading into the final table:
1. Tobias Reinkemeier, 460,000
2. Jonathan Duhamel, 420,000
3. Dan Shak, 390,000
4. Dan Cates, 340,000
5. Talal Shakerchi, 280,000
6. Sam Trickett, 270,000
7. Antonio Esfandiari, 230,000
