Less Than 700 Hands of Match Completed
Published on March 12th, 2012 1:50 pm ESTAfter a lengthy hiatus (the last match was played in July of 2011), the "Superstar Showdown" returned to Pokerstars yesterday with a match between Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Isaac "philivey2694" Haxton.
Blom has played 11 "Superstar Showdown" matches since the contest began a few years ago, amassing a record of 9-2 (and a cumulative profit of over $600k) over that time.
One of those two losses came against Isaac Haxton, and "Isildur1" was looking for revenge on Sunday.
Blom was able to exact a bit of revenge, taking nearly $100k ($99,886 to be exact) off of Haxton over the first 692 hands of the match. Note: the challenge called for 2,500 hands of $100/$200 No Limit Hold'em to be played.
After 692 hands had been played, Haxton was forced offline due to Internet connectivity issues, which he later blamed on a recent storm in Malta. According to Haxton, the storm occurred two days ago and had damaged his Internet connection.
According to Pokerstars, the match between Blom and Haxton will likely resume later in the week.

After the match, Pokerstars announced that Andrew "Kanu7" Millar is up next for "Isildur1", with the match set for Sunday, March 18th at 12 pm EDT. It could be a busy week for Blom if he finishes his match with Haxton and plays against "Kanu7".
