"Isildur1" vs Tony G Set For January 2nd
Published on December 29th, 2010 1:39 pm ESTPokerstars announced via their blog earlier today that Tony G will be the challenger for "Isildur1" in the second "Superstar Showdown".
The battle between "Isildur1" (rumored to be Viktor Blom) and Tony G will take place at 16:00 ET on Sunday, January 2nd.
The Tony G/"Isildur1" match will take place over two $50/$100 No Limit Hold'em and two $50/$100 Pot Limit Omaha tables. The winner will be the player who is up after a total of 2,500 hands have been played.
According to Pokerstars, both players have escrowed the required $150,000 for the match.
The first "Superstar Showdown" match took place a few weeks ago, with Isaac "philivey2694" Haxton scoring a $40k victory. There was some thought that Haxton and "Isildur1" might play an immediate rematch, but that won't be happening now that Tony G has claimed his spot for Sunday's match.
Tony G and "Isildur1" have a bit of history. In March of 2010, Tony G offered to stake "Isildur1" for the PartyPoker.com Big Game IV in London. In addition, Tony G claims that he had also agreed to fly "Isildur1" and three of his friends to London for the event. "Isildur1" reportedly accepted the offer, only to back out due to "personal reasons".

"Isildur1" has been on a heater as of late, making hundreds of thousands of dollars in the last couple of days on Pokerstars.
This should be a very interesting match-up.
